Mentoring
Denver Kids, Inc. recruits and trains adult volunteers to serve as mentors to our students. Activities, special events and educational programs are provided - throughout the year - for the mentors and students. Each Denver Kids, Inc. mentor commits to the program for one year and agrees to see the student twice a month. The professional counseling staff works closely with each mentor - providing them with expertise and guidance.
Currently, about 30% of our students are matched with Denver Kids, Inc. mentors. The average tenure of a mentor match is 5 years. In 2008-2009, 324 Denver Kids, Inc. mentors volunteered 54,540 hours of service to our students.
