DENVER KIDS, INC. CELEBRATING 60 YEARS OF SERVING DPS STUDENTS!

Reunion Reception to be held in honor of current and past volunteers and staff

Founded in 1946 as Denver Boys, Inc., which later merged with Denver Girls, Inc. to become Denver Kids, Inc. (DKI), we continue to work with at-risk students in DPS, helping them overcome personal challenges to successfully graduate from high school and explore their post-secondary options, to become productive citizens of our community.  The Rotary Club of Denver, DPS and Denver Active 20/30 continue to support our programs.

To celebrate this longevity, DKI will be holding several events over the coming months to commemorate this Diamond Anniversary.  In the fall, we will have a VOLUNTEER AND STAFF REUNION…if you are a current or former volunteer or staff member you are cordially invited to attend this reception.  As we may not have your current address, kindly call our office to RSVP and update our records! (720.423.8266)  If you know of others who are former mentors, kindly pass along this invitation and ask them to get in touch with us as soon as possible!

DENVER KIDS, INC. STEPS UP MENTORING EFFORTS

DKI is a member of the Youth Mentoring Collaborative which is comprised of 15 mentoring organizations and eight resource partners that share a united vision: “To positively impact all Denver Metro area youth by providing more mentors through the collaboration of quality mentoring organizations.” A sub-group of this collaborative, including DKI, has begun a joint mentoring contract with the city to serve the needs of Denver youth who are homeless, and those who are TANF-eligible.  This unified effort addresses not only the Mayor’s goal to end homelessness in Denver within ten years, but represents a unique opportunity to share resources and knowledge within the mentoring community.  This endeavor will strengthen all the participating organizations’ ability to recruit, screen, train and supervise mentors, while providing increased services to youth.  If you are interested in joining us in this effort, or know someone who would be a great mentor, kindly contact Penny Stanley, Volunteer Program Director, 720.423.8133
