Parent 2 Parent Program
This program was started by a group of dedicated the parents whose students are involved with of Denver Kids, Inc. The purpose is to empower and educate the parents of our students on the importance of and how to be engaged in the education of their child.
Monthly meetings are held in the five satellite areas in Denver Public Schools (SE, SE, NW, NE, and far NE). The schedule varies depending on the area and the meetings last for approximately two hours.
Volunteer opportunities include:
• Transportation Assistants – One of the biggest barriers for families to participate in these meetings is simply getting to and from. We are seeking caring individuals with reliable transportation and a safe driving record to transport one or more parents, and possibly their children, to and from these local area meetings.
• Childcare Activities Planner/Leader – Many of our parents who attend these meetings do not have access to childcare. Therefore, in order to attend the meeting their children must also attend. The ages vary from toddlers to high school students. We are seeking caring individuals to take care of and plan activities (sports, crafts, games, etc.) for the children while their parents participate in the meeting.
• Tutoring/Homework Helper – For our school aged students who attend the meetings with their parents, we would love to offer opportunities for homework assistance and tutoring.
