The Reality
The graduation rate for DPS hovers around 55-60%. Those children most at-risk for dropping out of school are children from families that live in poverty and who come from single-parent homes. Denver Kids, Inc. works to ensure that our city's most vulnerable children are supported in their pursuit to achieve their academic potential.
Filling the Gap
Each student in our program is supported by a Denver Kids, Inc. educational counselor who provides long-term one-to-one academic and personal counseling to address a variety of needs. Many students are also matched with a Denver Kids, Inc. volunteer mentor from the community who commits his/her time and energy to serve as a positive adult role model in the child's life.
The Results
Every year, Denver Kids, Inc. students are beating the odds! Students in our program graduate at a rate 30-35% higher than the district average. The majority of our students are the first in their family to graduate from high school. Every year, around 85% of our graduates pursue post-secondary education options.
