Mission

Denver Kids, Inc. exists to support Denver Public School (DPS) students, grades K-12, who face the personal challenges of higher risk environments, to successfully complete high school, pursue a post-secondary option and become contributing members of the community.

Vision

Every student counts. Every student graduates.

Core Values

We believe education to be essential to each child's development into a responsible and contributing adult.

We believe all children are entitled to support from the adult community.

We believe the support and advocacy provided for the students by the Education Counselor is the foundation of our methodology.

We respect, honor and encourage diversity.

We believe that by being compassionate but firm in dealing with our kids, they may learn that responsibility and consequences are an integral part of a productive life.

We believe the Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers operate as effective individuals who support and empower one another.

We believe in the power of the family and continually work to strengthen the role of the parent/guardian in the child's life.

We believe that adult mentors expand the horizons of children and strengthen our counseling program.

We believe Denver Public Schools is an essential partner in the success of our program and, in turn, we must be accountable to the Board of Education, administrators, teachers, social workers, and other professionals.

We believe community support of our program is essential to our success and, in turn, we must be accountable to the community that includes, but is not limited to, our sponsoring organizations, foundations, businesses, donors, community partners, and individuals.

Program

The Denver Kids, Inc. educational counselors are the core of our program. Averaging caseloads of 55 students, our educational counselors provide the one on one support and advocacy necessary to empower our Denver Kids, Inc. students to succeed academically, personally, and socially. Stationed at our main office at 1330 Fox Street and five satellite offices throughout DPS, the educational counselors interact with school personnel, families, mentors, and various community members and agencies to provide support for their students to help them reach their full potential.
